Floral Pride 2012

Congratulations and a great big Thank You to each and every pupil involved in our Floral Pride Garden 2012. We are delighted to have won 1st place in the small school category and a cheque for €300-.We have also to thank all the wonderful people who worked so hard on the garden ....the 5th and 6th class pupils from Miss McCabe's class who reset all the paving stones in the fruit garden.....the 2nd 3rd and 4th class in Miss Quinn's room who helped empty the old window boxes and replant each one of them......the girls in 2nd class who filtered every handful of compost from our green bin to fill the tomato planter.....the parents who brought plants  and trees from bogs all over Cloone ......Packie Joe who brought us Cloone brown turf because Mrs Moran's turf was black Bornacoola turf!... the Dads who organised the stone we needed.....the men who removed all the dead and damaged plants from the back of the school....our wonderful caretaker Maureen who took such care of our window boxes as did Mick next door who does such a great job on the lawn and grass areas for us and helped us with our ridges....the two Micks who carefully cut and supplied the timber *stepping stones" for our bog garden.....Mrs Moran's son Brian who hand-made our signs. The garden was beautiful all summer. We grew tomatoes, peas, beans, onions, broccoli, cabbage, sprouts, blackcurrants, and strawberries....and plenty of flowers. Our sensory garden was an explosion of colour with beautifully scented flowers, wind chimes and fruit. The garden is wind swept and messy now as the winter closes in but come next Spring we plan to be back bigger and better than ever
