Active School Flag

We are currently working towards our Active school flag and over the past two years have increased substantially the level of physical activity the children engage in in school. In order to achieve the Active School Flag we had to begin by self-evaluating our current provision across PE, Physical Activity and Partnerships. Then we must plan and implement improvements across all three areas that will have a real and tangible impact on their school community.  We came up with an ABC of sports and our aim is that all the children get to sample them all while at school with a view to enkindling a life-long interest in an Active lifestyle.   In the 2016/2017 school year we intend to run the Be Active Programme in the school This is an exciting programme developed to support teachers and childcare practitioners in introducing young people to sport and physical activity. The programmes are rolled out through The Irish Sports Council's network of Local Sports Partnerships. It is important that an enjoyable multi-sport and non-competitive model is used to introduce our children to sport that will complement and enhance both our school and community sport programmes.
