Green School Flag We are going for our third Green School Flag this year with the Water Theme. Mrs Murphy, our new deputy Principal, has taken over the job of Green School Co-Ordinator from Mrs. Clancy. We had a very informative meeting with Mr Michael Kellegher from our local group water scheme who explained all about water metering and showed us all how to read our meter. Mrs Moran set up the new "water butt " at the side of her classroom. The mini Rainsaver Water Butt collects the rainwater from the roof and downpipe, which can then be used for watering plants of shrubs or washing cars. Its designed so as not to overflow....which is a good idea these days......when full the rainwater will flow straight through the downpipe instead of in the water butt. We will post news of all our work on our Green school pages during the next few months.
Cash for Clobber We have sent out Cash for Clobber bags to every family and ask everyone to get involved. We use this initiative as a fund raising event for the school each year. This year the local playschool are helping out too and we will share the proceeds with them so we really need all the help we can get, Clear out all the old clothes before the winter sets in! Ask friends and neighbours to help you help us!
Children Helping Children The National Day of Prayer for Children will be celebrated on Friday 12th of October this year. We invite everyone involved to join us in prayer on the day as we are having a School Mass in the church at 10am that day.As October is the month in which we celebrate and support missionaries and their work, we are taking a little time to pray a decade of the Rosary each day in each room for them and the children they help. We have also arranged a "copper hunt" collecting 1c,2c and 5c coins for the Missions! We ask everyone to support this great cause, As little as 20c will provide a dinner for five children in Africa!
